Biophysics group in the ZBM, CAU Kiel

This site deals with the biophysics group in the ZBM (Center of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology).   Our research has two major fields:   Membrane transport, especially analysis of fast gating. The figure show a model which assigns fast gating of MaxiK channels in the range of microseconds to an instability of the selectivity filter under ion depletion. (Schroeder and Hansen, 2007)  Photosynthesis, especially interaction with plasmalemma ion transport, photoacoustics signals, fluorescence clamp, Effect of N-form, determination of algal populations.   For details, browse through the navigation bar.
